Forum:
Impacts of COVID-19 on Healthcare and Medical Device Industry –
Lessons Learned, New Normal, and Future Prospects
This free online forum addresses all aspects of medical devices from manufacturers to users, and the engineering/technology aspects of the healthcare industry, as the world gradually emerges from lockdown due to COVID-19. We welcome inputs from healthcare professionals (administrators/executives, physicians, nurses, physician assistants, and frontline healthcare workers), healthcare engineering professionals (administrators/executives, engineers, and researchers) and entrepreneurs, to address issues such as:
-
How the healthcare and medical device industry may be changed temporarily or permanently due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
-
How the pandemic becomes an impetus to accelerate healthcare transformation (e.g., telehealth).
-
Which technologies will receive increased attention (e.g., 3D printing, diagnosis/testing devices, information technology, digital therapy).
-
How the pandemic accelerates technology innovation (e.g., virtual medical device development).
-
How corporate strategies will be modified in the new reality caused by the pandemic.
-
New challenges medical device startups are facing due to the economic impact of the pandemic.
-
New strategies for healthcare entrepreneurship.
-
Reshaping supply chain to reduce vulnerability due to dependency on foreign suppliers.
-
How the healthcare industry and government can better cooperate in fighting the pandemic.
